(NEXSTAR) – Hackers took management of President Trump’s marketing campaign web site Tuesday night.
A message on Donaldjtrump.com learn “this website was seized” with seals from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Division of Justice.
Tim Murtaugh, the director of communications for the marketing campaign, issued the next assertion Tuesday:
Earlier this night, the Trump marketing campaign web site was defaced and we’re working with regulation enforcement authorities to research the supply of the assault. There was no publicity to delicate knowledge as a result of none of it’s truly saved on the location. The web site has been restored.
It wasn’t instantly clear who took management of the location, leaving a message riddled in spelling errors that began by accusing the president of spreading false information after which added a cryptocurrency account for donations.
Chris Krebs, director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Safety Company, tweeted:
Like I mentioned yesterday, web site defacements are noise. Don’t fall for these makes an attempt designed to distract, sensationalize, and confuse. In the end they’re attempting to undermine your confidence in our voting course of.
The positioning appeared to go offline briefly earlier than being restored.
